Kanpur: Traders and family members of hosiery businessman Vijay Kumar Chaurasia blocked traffic by placing his body at Bada Chauraha and demanded immediate arrest of his murderer, on Saturday. They demanded death penalty to the murderer. According to police, Chaurasia was murdered late Friday evening by Vishal Gupta, a restaurant operator, in Chowk Sarrafa area. Named FIR was lodged in the case.The protesters clashed several times with police and insisted they would not remove the body till they were assured justice. Nearby commercial establishments shut their shops and traffic heading towards Civil Lines, Parade and Mall Road came to a standstill.When senior officials arrived with heavy police force and attempted to clear the blockade, protesters raised slogans like ‘hang the murder accused’. Officials pacified the enraged crowd and assured them the case would be taken to a fast track court so that the guilty could be given strict punishment at the earliest.
