Chennai: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss demanded a high-level inquiry into alleged corruption in the 60.68 crore Madhya Kailash L-shaped flyover project, which was opened by chief minister M K Stalin on Feb 15.In a statement on Tuesday, he claimed that drivers now avoid it, fearing poor construction quality. The 652m bridge from Central Institute of Plastics to Rajiv Gandhi Salai has more than 100 bumps that “throw vehicles”, sharp curves posing huge risks to two-wheeler. He said experts cite weak re-bars, M40-grade concrete (vs required M50/M90), uneven surfacing and shaky pillars as signs of massive corruption in the project. Lakhs of commuters bypass the flyover via service roads, defeating its purpose. tnn
