Patna: The Adalatganj pond and park complex is set for a revamp of its non-functional facilities ahead of Durga Puja, with Patna Smart City Limited (PSCL) planning to hand over its operation and maintenance to a private agency for five years.The park has remained open, but several facilities, including boating, the laser show and food outlets, have been non-functional due to maintenance issues.PSCL is expected to sign an agreement with a Bihar-based private agency within the next couple of days. Once the agreement is executed, the agency will take charge of the pond and facilities at the complex, with plans to resume services before Durga Puja.The agency will operate the complex under a rental model for five years. Its responsibilities will include managing the ticket counter, parking, boating, food kiosks and children’s play area, besides carrying out day-to-day maintenance.Visitors will be allowed to stay at the complex for up to three hours after purchasing an entry ticket. PSCL has fixed the entry fee at Rs20 for adults and Rs10 for children. A 15-minute boat ride will cost Rs25.The agency will not be allowed to fix or revise charges on its own. PSCL will determine the rates for entry, parking, boating and other activities. The approved rates will have to be displayed prominently on the premises.Action will be taken against the agency if it charges more than the prescribed rates. Violations may attract penalties, while repeated breaches could lead to cancellation of the agreement.Boating and the laser show are among the facilities planned to resume before Durga Puja. Food services will also be restored through two kiosks on the premises, with operators required to comply with food safety and hygiene standards.Security arrangements will also be strengthened, with security personnel deployed at the complex and CCTV cameras used for round-the-clock surveillance. The agency will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and ensuring separate and scientific disposal of wet and dry waste.The open-air theatre will be used for cultural programmes as well as startup-related events. PSCL also plans to use the facility for recreational, cultural and creative activities instead of limiting it to a walking and leisure space, an official said.PSCL CEO Md Shamshad said the private agency was being roped in to improve the management and maintenance of the facilities at Adalatganj pond. He said PSCL would retain control over charges while the agency would be responsible for operations, maintenance and security arrangements.
