Jamshedpur: The Steel City is decked up to welcome President Droupadi Murmu as she is scheduled to visit the city on Thursday to lay the foundation of Shri Jagannath Spiritual and Cultural Charitable Centre Trust complex at Marine Drive in Kadma and inaugurate the Droupadi Murmu Sports Club and Food Court complex at Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC) at Baridih in Sidhgora.The East Singhbhum district administration has made full proof arrangements to ensure security to the president, and smooth visit to the two venues, which are located 8-km distance from each other in two different directions of the city.Besides, steps have been taken to make sure vehicular traffic remains hassle-free on the diverted routes during the visit of the president. The administration has split the city into five zones and 14 sectors and entrusted separate tasks to different teams.Accordingly, cleaning and beautification of the president’s route, removal of the unauthorized structures from the route, diversion of the routes for the traffic, deployment of the police on the route have been done by the officials.

Earlier this week, Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) carried out an eviction drive on the Sakchi-Baridih straight mile road and Kadma-Sonari stretch of the Marine Drive as the president’s convoy of 25 vehicles will travel on the two respective routes.The civic body removed the illegal shops, the potholes were filled, the cracks were sealed and a fresh coat of tar was laid on the road.The district administration has prohibited entry of heavy commercial vehicles into the city from 6 am to 11 pm. Besides, the long-distance buses which normally operate from Bhuyadih bus terminus will operate from Dimna Chowk and Paridih on Thursday.The inter-state passenger buses coming from Odisha and West Singhbhum will terminate at Tatanagar railway station chowk and Bistupur Ram Mandir chowk.With 2,500 security personnel, including 7 IPS and 18 deputy SP rank officials besides 135 magistrates deployed to man the security of the president, the administration has fortified the Sonari aerodrome where the president’s chopper is scheduled to land.“All the officials including police personnel who are overseeing the president’s programme have been asked to discharge duty with absolute honesty, integrity, discipline and seamless coordination,” said DC Karn Satyarthi.Both DC and SSP (Piyush Pandey) have asked officials to make sure that protocol of the president is strictly followed.
