Police Outpost In-Charge Suspended For LaxityJhansi: A 35-year-old pregnant woman and her two young children, aged 2 and 3, were killed after allegedly jumping in front of a moving train in Uttar Pradesh‘s Lalitpur district on Monday morning. The incident triggered allegations of police negligence and led to the suspension of a police outpost in-charge.The incident took place in Dhorra village under Jakhlaun police station limits. According to officials, Deepa Yadav (35), who was reportedly distressed due to frequent domestic disputes and alleged abuse by her husband, had approached the police outpost seeking help. She arrived at the outpost with her children and complained against her husband, who was allegedly addicted to alcohol and had assaulted her.Family members and locals alleged that the woman did not receive the assistance from the police. A short while later, she went to a nearby railway track with her children and allegedly jumped in front of a goods train heading towards Bina Junction.Deepa, along with her son and daughter, died on the spot after being struck by the train. Her eldest daughter survived after reportedly moving away from the tracks on seeing the approaching train.The incident sent shockwaves through the village and triggered outrage among residents. Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel reached the spot, took custody of the bodies and sent them for postmortem examination.Police said an investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact sequence of events and the circumstances that led to the deaths.Lalitpur SP Sanjive Kumar Bajpayee suspended outpost in-charge Vinod Kumar for alleged negligence in the discharge of duty.According to police, the woman had visited the police outpost in the morning and alleged that her husband was assaulting her because she wanted to terminate her two-month pregnancy while he opposed the decision. The officer claimed that he had informed her that terminating the pregnancy under such circumstances could have legal implications and had asked her to accompany him so the matter could be addressed. However, before any further action could be be taken, she reportedly left the outpost and later died by suicide along with her children.
