Times News NetworkKanpur: Police arrested two men accused of stealing Rs 21 lakh from the house of a retired PAC platoon commander in Hanumant Vihar area of the city. The arrested accused were identified as Pawan alias Ravi Chaurasiya, a resident of Loharn Bhatta in Nazirabad, and Rahul Kanaujia, a resident of Babupurwa.DCP (South) Deependra Nath Chaudhary said the accused stole jewellery worth about Rs 19.50 lakh and Rs 1.20 lakh in cash belonging to platoon commander’s wife Kalavati, elder daughter-in-law Pinki, younger daughter-in-law Mamta, and daughter Mamta. Police reached the spot and examined CCTV cameras, in which both accused were captured carrying out the crime with towels wrapped around themselves.The DCP said the arrested accused conducted reconnaissance of locked houses and targeted them. There were nine cases registered against accused Pawan under theft and the Arms Act, and 16 cases against Rahul Kanaujia.
