Shillong: Prayers, penance, special sermons on salvation and participation in the ‘Lord’s Supper’ marked Good Friday as the faithful commemorated the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on the cross, in accordance with Christian belief, to save mankind.Special services were conducted in various churches across Meghalaya to mark the day.Governor CH Vijayashankar extended his greetings to the citizens of the state and the nation on Good Friday, wishing for a ‘blessed, peaceful, and harmonious day’. In his message, the governor highlighted the significance of the day as a time for reflection on the profound values of sacrifice and selflessness. He expressed hope that the spirit of the day would bring positive change and kindness into the lives of the people, promoting unity across the state.“There’s no greater love than His,” CM Conrad K Sangma said in his message as he wished everyone a ‘Blessed Good Friday’.Attired mostly in black, as mark of mourning, Christians took part in worship services in churches across the state.
