Prayagraj: Prayagraj district administration has decided that the schools should make arrangements for students to board and alight from vehicles within the campus or on playgrounds wherever possible, instead of allowing vehicles to halt on roads and obstruct traffic.Presiding over a meeting of the district school vehicle transport safety committee, district magistrate, Manish Kumar Verma, directed officials to intensify action against school vehicles operating without valid fitness certificates and mandatory safety measures, while asking school managements to work with authorities to prevent traffic congestion outside educational institutions.The DM reviewed the safety arrangements with school managers and principals and also directed officials to jointly inspect locations where traffic jams are regularly reported outside schools and prepare a coordinated action plan in consultation with the respective school managements.

During the meeting, the ARTO briefed officials on action taken under the ‘Mission Safe Future’ campaign conducted from July 1 to 15. A list of 307 school vehicles was handed over to the DIOS, with directions for their fitness certification to be completed within 15 days.The DM asked school managements not to operate or engage vehicles without valid permits, fitness certificates, insurance and pollution-under-control certificates.The meeting also focused on persistent traffic bottlenecks on major city roads. The traffic police were asked to inspect designated permanent hoarding zones and submit a detailed report.Transport department and roadways officials were directed to launch a drive against illegally parked buses and other vehicles on Zero Road and take action against bus drivers violating rules.The CMO, traffic police, electricity and fire departments were also asked to jointly inspect hospitals and ensure compliance with electrical and fire safety norms.
