Lucknow: A power outage at Lok Bandhu Hospital early Friday disrupted emergency and diagnostic services, forcing doctors to use mobile phone flashlights to treat patients after the backup system failed.The power went off around 12.30 am and remained unavailable for about 30 minutes. The generator and inverter failed, leaving the emergency ward, radiology department, OPD and hospital wards in darkness. Electricity was restored around 1 am.Doctors continued treatment using mobile phone flashlights. They administered oxygen, inserted IV lines and stitched wounds during the outage.X-ray, CT scan and ultrasound services were also affected. The incident came a day after another power failure caused by an electrical panel fault disrupted services for nearly seven hours.A hospital official said the backup system failed due to a diesel shortage and technical faults.Hospital Director Rajesh Kumar said, “The electricity supply was restored after some time. Only minor procedures were carried out in the emergency ward during the outage as patients could not be left unattended.”
