Salem: The Tamil Nadu Pottery Workers’ Unorganized Workers’ Association has urged the state government to provide a new pot and a stove, both made of clay, along with Pongal gift to protect the livelihood of pottery workers. The association passed a resolution in this regard at its district executive committee held in the city on Sunday.The meeting also resolved that all pottery workers should be provided with monsoon relief and that the monsoon relief should be increased from 5,000 to 10,000. “The govt should give permission to extract clay from lakes and ponds without any conditions,” state president of the association SM Narayanan said. Resolutions were passed to provide electric bicycles to all pottery workers and to provide free electricity to the houses they live in.
