Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Monday lashed out at ECI over the bureaucratic and police reshuffle, calling it “anti-Bengali and anti-women” for removing the state’s first woman chief secretary Nandini Chakraborty.

Banerjee also questioned the removal of Bengal DGP, ADG (law & order) and the home secretary, who are non-Bengalis, as well as Kolkata Police commissioner, a Bengali.Also Read | West Bengal BJP candidate list 2026: First list of 144 candidates out


She said, “At midnight, the chief secretary was removed. Have you ever heard of such actions being taken in the dead of night? She is a Bengali woman. They removed her. They are anti-Bengali and anti-women… Change everything… Even then the government in Bengal won’t change. Mark my words.”

Banerjee claimed her residence might be targeted similar to the alleged attack on the house of minister Shashi Panja ahead of the PM’s rally in Kolkata on Saturday.
