Ludhiana: Police have booked a local political activist and several accomplices following a violent confrontation at a Pakhowal Road wedding resort that left a property adviser injured and robbed.Rohit Sahni, along with associates Rana Ahuja, Ashish Narang, and eight unidentified men, faces multiple charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including rioting and criminal intimidation. The targeted man, Pankaj Verma, claims the group intercepted him in the resort’s parking lot at 1.30am on Tuesday.It’s written in the first-information report (FIR) that Sahni allegedly warned Verma against purchasing a 500-sqyd property on Pakhowal Road, claiming exclusive possession. When Verma denied knowledge of the land, the group reportedly overpowered him.Verma alleged the assailants continued to beat him up after knocking him to the ground, fleeing eventually with his licensed pistol and a gold bracelet. The investigating officer, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Harcharan Singh has confirmed that Lalton police have initiated an investigation and directed the resort management to provide CCTV footage of the parking area. No arrests have been made, so far, but authorities say the search for the suspects is in progress.
