Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray has slammed the centre on the Iran versus USA- Israel war saying that India should have helped Iran and stood by it. Thackeray claimed that Iran always stood by India whenever our country was in trouble and India should have stood by it.

“The Prime Minister should have done certain things. Iran that always stood by us, the kind of attacks happening on Iran, we should have supported them. Most of the country’s oil comes from Iran and they used to charge us in rupees. However our Prime Minister did not issue a condemnation on the death of Ali Khamenei’s death, (cleric and former Supreme leader of Iran). Nor did he give a statement on the attack on Iran. “said Thackeray.

He added, “The country that always supported India whenever we were in trouble, even on the Jammu and Kashmir issue, we should have stood by them. Due to this we would face problems in future.”said Thackeray on Thursday while speaking at the party’s annual Gudi Padwa rally in Mumbai’s Shivaji Park rally.

The MNS President attacked the centre claiming that the latter is pressurizing the media from showing the truth or writing against the government. “ By design the government wants the people to be engrossed in their phones scrolling social media. The whole country is busy with entertainment, there is IPL going on, then there is some movie being run that is houseful. All this is being done so that you are constantly busy with social media and do not understand what is going on in the country.”alleged Thackeray.

He also slammed the Maharashtra government saying that while it is talking of a 3 trillion dollar economy, the state’s debt is at Rs 11 lakh crore debt. “ When Prithviraj Chavan left the state as the Chief Minister in 2014 the state’s debt was Rs 2 lakh crore however now it has gone up to Rs 11 lakh crore.”claimed Thackeray.
