Mangaluru: The CCB sleuths of Mangaluru City police arrested three persons for allegedly selling MDMA to the public and students in the city. Acting on credible information that MDMA was being procured and sold in the Pumpwell–Yekkur area using an autorickshaw, CCB police conducted a raid on Sunday and intercepted the vehicle involved in the illegal activity.The arrested accused have been identified as Hyder alias Hyder Ali, 53, Mohammed Sajjad, 29, from Thokkottu, and Jaison Menezes, 26, from Ujjodi, Pumpwell. City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH stated that police seized 26g of MDMA valued at Rs 2.5 lakh, Rs 37,000 cash, five mobile phones, a weighing scale, and an autorickshaw. The total value of the seized property is estimated at Rs 4.3 lakh. A case has been registered at Kankanady town police station. Police said that the prime accused, Hyder Ali, has previous cases registered against him, including obstructing police duty at Mangaluru East police station, a drug peddling case in 2024, and an assault case at Ullal police station. Investigations have revealed the involvement of more individuals in the drug trafficking network, and efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest other accused.
