Mangaluru: Mangaluru City police have arrested a man for allegedly sharing a communally sensitive, AI-manipulated video on social media with the intent of inciting communal hatred.The accused, identified as Mahammed Rafiq, 38, of Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada district, was arrested in Bengaluru on Sunday by Kankanady Town police, city police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH said.He said a case was registered at Kankanady Town Police Station under sections 196, 353(1) and 351(2) of BNS after the video was shared on Facebook in Oct 2025 through an account named ‘Nazeer Mangalore’.During the investigation, police obtained details of the Facebook account and confirmed that the accused had shared the video.Rafiq was produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody for 15 days.
