Mangaluru: Members of Bhovi, Banjara, Korama, Koracha, Chalavadi, and Charmakara communities will hold a protest to oppose the report of Justice HN Nagamohan Das, who headed the One Man Enquiry Commission to provide internal reservations, as the data provided by the commission is allegedly biased, said Bovi Community Youth Wing convenor Pavan Kumar. He told reporters here on Monday that the Justice Nagamohan Das Commission report has ignored many castes. He said a protest will be held at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Tuesday, demanding govt to establish a new commission or set up a floor committee to rectify the issue. The protest to be held in association with Bhovi, Banjara, Korama, Koracha, Chalavadi, and Charmakara communities will be led by Sri Immadi Siddarameshwara Swami of Bhovi Gurupeeth, Chitradurga. The commission submitted its 1766-page report to the chief minister on Aug 4, 2025. The report also has several recommendations. In fact, the commission was asked to conduct a study on internal reservations for Scheduled Castes. The leaked portions of the report are incomplete, unscientific, and it comprises irrational recommendations. A comprehensive report containing data on the 50-year social status of 101 communities needs to be published. Further, a few more months’ time should be given to receive objections from the 101 communities mentioned in the survey list. Several communities were reportedly meted out injustice through the report. The govt should convene a meeting of leaders of all communities. However, these demands of the communities were ignored by the govt, forcing them to hold a protest, he said.He added that the Bhovi community members in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are not given caste certificates.
