Mangaluru: Traffic South police have issued a lookout notice and appealed to the public for information regarding the identity of an unidentified man who died after being hit by a car at Kallapu on Aug 30.According to the police, the approximately 50-year-old man was crossing National Highway-66 near Unity Hall around 2 am, walking from the median towards the hall, when a car travelling from the Mangaluru side hit him. The driver allegedly fled the spot without stopping.The victim sustained serious head injuries and injuries to other parts of his body. He was initially shifted to a private hospital in Thokkottu, and later transferred toWenlock District Hospital, Mangaluru, for further treatment.He succumbed to his injuries on Sept 5. A case has been registered at the Traffic South police station under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 134(a) and 134(b) of the Indian Motor Vehicles Act. An investigation is under way.The deceased was about 5.5 ft tall, had a wheatish complexion, thin and built normal, with oval face and thin stubble beard. Anyone who can provide information about his identity, address or family members has been requested to contact the police inspector, Traffic South police station, Jeppinamogaru, Mangaluru, or the Mangaluru City police control room.
