Pune: A 34-year-old police patil from a village in Mulshi taluka was duped of Rs 56 lakh by cybercrooks in an online share trading fraud.They took money from him between Nov 2025 and Jan this year.An officer from the Paud police said, “the complainant was added to a group of investors on a mobile messaging app in Nov last year. He downloaded the company’s app for stock market trading and was assured of handsome returns on his investments. He sent Rs56 lakh to different bank accounts provided.“The app showed he had earned a profit of Rs10 crore. The crooks insisted he invest more to earn a larger profit. However, the complainant decided to withdraw his profits. The crooks demanded an additional Rs 30 lakh on the pretext of a security deposit. He asked them to deduct the amount from his profits and transfer the balance to him,” the officer said.“When the crooks refused he approached the police and lodged a complaint,” the officer added.
