Prayagraj: Police investigations into the Saini road accident incident that claimed 10 lives and left 18 others injured on March 27, on Friday, revealed that on observation of CCTV footage of the petrol pump located about 800 metres before the incident spot, it was found that the pickup vehicle was trailing the accused trailer at a gap of two minutes and 19 secondsThe CCTV footage installed near the petrol pump (incident spot) showed that the errant vehicle trailer number NL01 AE3551 had come to a stand in the third lane (left side) of NH 19 on March 27 at 15:24:50 hours. Thereafter, at 15:26:30 hours, the pickup vehicle carrying 28 passengers from Prayagraj to Fatehpur collided with the trailer from behind and met with an accident.The investigating officer and Circle Officer (Manjhanpur) said that after the road accident, an FIR under sections 281/100 (1)/125/125C BNS was registered against the trailer driver.He added, “On observation of CCTV footage of the petrol pump located about 800 metres before the incident spot, it was found that the pickup vehicle was trailing the accused trailer at a gap of two minutes and 19 seconds. The CCTV footage installed at the guest house situated about 1.5 km before the place of Gharana, it was found that the pickup vehicle was trailing the accused trailer at a gap of two minutes 31 seconds. The process of further investigation and collection of evidence is underway in the case.”Ironically, initial Saini police claimed that both trailer and pickup vehicle were moving on the national highway, but investigations made it clear that the errant trailer was parked on the roadside.
