Kanpur: A high-profile drugs night party was busted in Kanpur after police raided the gathering underway in NRI City on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. Two main accused were arrested by the police. The team recovered 0.15 grams of LSD, 23.47 grams of ganja, 5.49 grams of charas, 1.19 grams of cocaine, 0.60 grams of hashish, five crushers, smoking filters and Rs 49,000 in cash from the spot.Police said the raid followed information that a drugs night party was being held in the city. The drug users gathered there from several states across the country and were given the opportunity to attend through promotions on Instagram, with an entry fee of Rs 1,000 each.Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal said that for the past few days, invitations for a party named ‘Sonic Shift’ at a city hotel were being sent out on Instagram, with the entry fee set at Rs 1,000. He said that upon receiving the information, the SOG team was activated.Two members of the police team obtained passes by paying the entry fee and entered the party on Friday night. The people present at the party used LSD, charas, ganja and alcohol. By 2.30 am, the gathering was heavily intoxicated when the two cops informed the backup team, following which a raid was conducted and the party organiser- Fardeen, a resident of Jajmau, and drug dealer, Mohit Jaiswal, a resident near Sant Nagar Chauraha, were arrested.Police said Mohit brought LSD from Pushkar, Rajasthan, to sell at the party.“Fardeen is in the leather business, while Mohit is a hardware businessman. He said large posters and projectors were installed at the party to heighten the intoxicating effect of LSD,” said Lal.
