Mangaluru: Two police personnel were allegedly assaulted and abused while responding to a complaint of domestic violence at Mundaje in Padnur village of Puttur taluk on Friday night.According to police, head constable Madhu and constable Bhimanna Gowda M Biradar of Puttur Rural police station were on night patrol duty in a Hoysala vehicle when they received a complaint and proceeded to Mundaje. On reaching the spot, a woman told them that her husband had assaulted her. When the personnel questioned her husband, identified as Naveen, he allegedly became angry and attempted to assault his wife again.The police personnel intervened to stop him, following which Naveen, along with his mother and brother, allegedly abused and assaulted the policemen and obstructed them from discharging their official duties.Based on the complaint, Puttur Town police registered a case under Sections 352, 132 and 121(1), read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and an investigation is under way.Police said Naveen is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Further legal action will be taken after he is discharged.
