New Delhi: A 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in northeast Delhi’s Gokalpuri, with police rescuing the minor nearly three days after she went missing.Police said the case came to light on June 23 after the girl’s mother approached Gokalpuri police station and reported that her 17-year-old daughter had been missing since June 20.Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Section 137(kidnapping) of the BNS and launched an investigation.Acting on technical inputs and information gathered during the probe, the team tracked down the girl’s location and arrested the accused, identified as Karan (22), a resident of Uttam Nagar in southwest Delhi.During interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement in the crime. Police also recovered the mobile phone allegedly used in the commission of the offence.Following the victim’s statement, police invoked additional charges under Sections 64(punishment for rape) and 87(kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage) of the BNS, along with Section 4 of the Pocso Act.
