Chennai: City traffic police have announced traffic diversions on L B Road from Saturday in view of underground metro rail construction work.The stretch between Indian Oil Petrol Bunk signal junction and L B Road-M G Road junction will remain closed to traffic from June 27. Buses and other heavy vehicles travelling from Thiruvanmiyur towards Thiru Vi Ka Bridge will be diverted via M G Road, Shastri Nagar 1st Main Road and Shastri Nagar 1st Avenue before rejoining L B Road. Vehicles approaching from Besant Nagar through 7th Avenue will also follow the same diversion.Vehicles travelling towards Thiruvanmiyur from L B Road will be diverted through Shastri Nagar 1st Avenue, 11th Cross Street, 8th Cross Street and 10th Cross Street before joining M G Road.Light motor vehicles heading towards Thiru Vi Ka Bridge from Thiruvanmiyur will be diverted at the L B Road-M G Road junction via Indira Nagar 2nd Avenue, 1st Main Road and 1st Avenue before rejoining L.B. Road near the Indian Oil Petrol Bunk signal.To facilitate the diversions, some roads in Shastri Nagar will temporarily operate as two-way corridors, while Shastri Nagar 1st Main Road will function as a one-way road towards Thiru Vi Ka Bridge and 11th Cross Street will operate as a one-way road towards Thiruvanmiyur.Heavy vehicles will not be allowed on Indira Nagar 2nd Avenue. Traffic police have advised motorists to plan their travel accordingly.
