PMC Bankipur Voter Awareness Program

Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Thursday extended its voter awareness campaign to Lohianipur and China Kothi slums, combining electoral participation with cleanliness and civic engagement ahead of the Bankipur assembly by-election.The campaign was organised under the Election Commission of India’s SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) programme to raise awareness and encourage voters to take part in the democratic process. Under this initiative, PMC officials, sanitation workers and residents participated in a cleanliness drive from the slum areas to the polling booths.Using the route to polling centres as an outreach platform, participants paused at different locations to speak with residents about the importance of voting and urged them to exercise their franchise in the upcoming by-election. The campaign connected two forms of civic responsibility—keeping public spaces clean and participating in elections.PMC also used public-address announcements, awareness banners and rangoli at public places to reach residents, taking voter awareness directly into neighbourhoods rather than relying only on formal communication channels.Youth participation was emphasised as well, with RJ Shashi interacting with residents and encouraging young voters to take an active role in the electoral process.PMC officials said the campaign carried a combined message of voting, cleanliness and civic participation, appealing to citizens to vote to strengthen democracy and to motivate others to do the same.
