Jodhpur: A 35-year-old motorcyclist was killed on the spot after being run over by a speeding public transport bus in the Keru area of Jodhpur Saturday. The incident enraged the villagers and they set the bus on fire.The incident occurred around 4pm near the Lordi bus stand when the bus, en route from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer, allegedly lost control and rammed into the motorcycle. The victim, identified as Rajuram Bheel, 35, was run over and died on the spot.Eyewitnesses said the bus was travelling at high speed, and the driver failed to control the vehicle in the bus stand area. The collision was so severe that the rider had no chance to recover after being hit.Soon after the accident, tension escalated at the scene. A large number of villagers gathered, raised slogans against the driver, and within minutes, set the bus ablaze. The vehicle was completely gutted in the fire.Police and administrative officials rushed to the spot upon receiving information and managed to mitigate the crowd with additional force deployment. Fire brigade teams brought the blaze under control.SHO Ravindrapal Singh said that a case was registered against the bus driver, who is currently absconding along with the conductor. The victim’s body was sent for post-mortem.
