Baramulla, July 19: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  held a well-attended youth convention at Behrampora in Rafiabad, where party leaders reviewed organisational affairs and discussed preparations for the party’s Foundation Day scheduled to be observed on July 28.

The convention was presided over by District Coordinator Baramulla and Constituency Incharge Rafiabad, Altaf Malik, along with zone and block committee members.

Addressing the gathering, Altaf Malik urged party workers to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level and carry forward the party’s pro-people agenda. He said youth empowerment and fighting for the rights of the people remain the core agenda of the PDP.

Malik said the PDP advocates “Dialogue, Peace with Dignity and Development,” while alleging that other political parties compromise their agendas merely to remain in power.

On the occasion, dozens of workers from other political parties joined the PDP.

Altaf Malik also criticised the National Conference (NC) government over what he termed its governance failures, betrayals and broken promises. He urged the administration to ensure the provision of basic amenities, including drinking water, electricity, road connectivity and healthcare facilities in Rafiabad, Zaingaire and other areas.
