Ludhiana: Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) trained 25 farmers and farm women in organic, natural and integrated farming practices during a five-day skill development programme aimed at promoting sustainable and chemical-free agriculture.Organised by the Skill Development Centre under the Directorate of Extension Education, the programme focused on organic cultivation techniques, preparation of organic manures and vermicompost, water management, pest and disease control, and integrated farming systems.Experts from PAU guided participants on organic farming standards and certification, natural farming, intercropping and ways to enhance farm incomes through integrated farming models. Trainees also learnt about organic vegetable cultivation, rooftop gardening, biocontrol measures and marketing of organic produce.The programme concluded with an educational visit to PAU’s School of Organic Farming, where participants toured integrated farming, vermicompost and research units to gain practical exposure.
