Ludhiana: The Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (Glada) has lodged an FIR against a Haridwar resident for allegedly using forged documents to obtain ownership of a property in Ludhiana. The accused is alleged to have submitted fake payment receipts worth about Rs 5.7 lakh for a plot allotted to him in 1998.The FIR was registered against Ravendra Kumar Kadd, a resident of Haridwar, on the complaint of Glada’s estate officer. A case has been filed under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC.According to the FIR, Ravendra was allotted house no. 905 under Scheme-99 in Sector 40, Ludhiana, on March 31, 1998. He later furnished receipts claiming he had deposited Rs 60,000 on Oct 3, 1997, Rs 85,815 on May 15, 1998, and Rs 4.26 lakh on May 18, 1998.However, a scrutiny by Glada’s accounts branch allegedly found no record of these payments. Officials further found that receipt number 1503/72, purportedly issued for the May 18, 1998 payment, did not correspond to the property allotted to the accused. Glada alleged that the No Due Certificate (NDC) obtained by Ravendra was based on forged payment receipts. The FIR further states that signatures on the application form submitted by Ravendra in Oct 1997 and on the conveyance deed executed on April 20, 2021, appeared to be different. Officials also observed that the photograph used in both documents was identical, except that the black-and-white image in the original application had been converted into a coloured version in the conveyance deed.Glada officials pointed out that Ravendra was 37 years old at the time of filing the application in 1997 and would have been around 60 years old in 2021, making the use of the same photograph suspicious. The estate officer alleged that forgery was committed through fabricated payment receipts and manipulated identity documents to secure ownership of the property.Moti Nagar police said a case was registered on the basis of Glada’s complaint and efforts are under way to trace and arrest the accused.
