Patna: In a major crackdown to strengthen law and order, curb crime and strictly enforce prohibition, Patna Police arrested 158 accused involved in serious crimes and sent them to jail during a large-scale special operation across the district on July 16. A total of 164 court warrants were also executed during the campaign. These included 56 bailable warrants, 94 non-bailable warrants and 14 attachment warrants against long-absconding offenders, officials said on Friday.Acting on the directions of SSP Kartikey K Sharma, coordinated raids were conducted simultaneously in multiple sensitive areas.The operation covered several vulnerable police station areas, including Maner, Ramakrishna Nagar, Agamkuan, Fatuha, Pachmahala, Malsalami and Bikram, along with dozens of other localities. Special teams laid a tight net to nab wanted criminals hiding in these zones.According to data shared by Patna Police, “As part of the drive to make prohibition effective, police seized a huge quantity of illegal liquor, including 1,726.05 litres of foreign liquor and 712 ltrs of country-made liquor. Meanwhile, 377 gram ganja and 11 gram smack were also seized. Police also recovered items used in illegal trade, including 7 vehicles, 9 mobile phones and Rs 15,010 in cash.”The raids also led to the recovery of deadly arms from the possession of criminals, including 2 firearms, 4 live cartridges, 1 magazine and 3 empty cartridges.Patna SSP Kartikey K Sharma said, “The objective of the operation was threefold: to tighten law and order in Patna, to put a brake on crime, and to ensure complete implementation of the liquor ban.” He added that such coordinated actions will continue in the coming days to target smugglers, history-sheeters and those involved in violent crimes.
