Hyderabad: BRS has sought a response from the Centre over remarks made by Union jal shakti minister CR Patil on the Kaleshwaram project, with senior leader and former MP B Vinod Kumar terming the comments “uncalled for” and demanding clarification in Parliament. Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, Vinod Kumar said BRS MPs had raised the issue, objecting to the minister’s statement that ₹1 lakh crore spent on the Kaleshwaram project had “gone down the drain.” He said such remarks were misleading and inappropriate, and insisted the Union minister explain his comments in the House. Criticising the BJP-led NDA govt, the ex-MP said the Centre had failed to grant national status to the Kaleshwaram project despite repeated requests from the previous BRS govt, but was now indulging in criticism of a project he described as Telangana’s lifeline. He also alleged that the Centre was favouring the Andhra Pradesh gov and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He demanded that the seven mandals transferred to Andhra Pradesh be merged back into Telangana. He said the Centre had amended the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill, 2014, in a manner that violated constitutional principles. .
