Gaya: The regional passport office (RPO), Patna, will organise special mobile van camps in Bodh Gaya and Sherghati later this month.The two-day camp at the Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee will be held on Sept 21 and 22, followed by a three-day camp on the Sherghati sub-divisional office premises from Sept 23 to 25.According to the IPRD, Gaya, 275 appointment slots have been released with 55 available each day. Of these, 110 slots are for Bodh Gaya and 165 for Sherghati.Applicants will have to pay the revised passport application fee, effective from July 1, and have been advised to use DigiLocker, wherever applicable, for secure submission and verification of eligible documents.The camps aim to ease pressure on the post office ‘passport seva kendra’ in Gaya amid rising demand. Passport applications in the district increased from 7,518 in 2021 to 13,193 in 2025, a 75.5% rise.Gaya district magistrate Shashank Shubhankar and regional passport officer, Patna, Swadha Rizwi will inaugurate the camp on Sept 21.
