Ahmedabad: A dispute over children playing cricket escalated into a violent clash between two groups of parents in a residential society in Anandnagar on Sunday night. Police said members of both sides were involved in a scuffle, and cross-complaints have been registered.According to police, the incident took place when children playing cricket in the society got into an argument. As the situation intensified, parents from both sides intervened, leading to a heated exchange that soon turned into a physical fight. During the clash, one group allegedly called in a few outsiders, who entered the society premises and joined the altercation. Residents claimed that the situation worsened after the arrival of these men, resulting in injuries to several persons. A woman from one of the families alleged that she was assaulted and suffered injuries to her abdomen. She also alleged inappropriate physical contact during the scuffle. The entire episode was captured on society CCTV cameras. Police said they reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and brought the situation under control. Both parties later lodged cross-complaints. One of the complainants alleged that the outsiders who joined the fight were under the influence of alcohol and had weapons. Police said the claims are being verified. Officers added that despite the complaints, both sides have reached an understanding. Inquiry is underway to ascertain the sequence of events and identify those involved in the assault.
