Lucknow: The birth anniversary of noted Kathak guru, performer and choreographer Pandit Arjun Mishra was celebrated at the International Buddhist Research Institute, Gomti Nagar, on Thursday evening with performances by disciples and artistes from India and abroad.‘Pandit Arjun Mishra Jayanti 2026’ celebrated legacy of the Lucknow Gharana exponent, who was a disciple of Pandit Birju Maharaj and Pandit Ram Narayan. The programme was led by his son, Pandit Anuj Mishra, a Sangeet Natak Akademi Award recipient, along with choreographer Neha Singh Sengar.Disciples of the late guru from Scotland, Italy and Dubai, including Nathalie and Shweta, joined Kathak artistes from different parts of the country to pay tribute through classical presentations.A key segment of the event was a tribute based on Taal Chakra, presented by senior and junior students, showcasing rhythmic precision and technical discipline. Beginner and junior students too presented an energetic Tarana.The programme concluded with a devotional production inspired by Krishna Ras, choreographed by Pandit Anuj Arjun Mishra and Neha Singh Sengar. The finale received a standing ovation from the packed auditorium.
