Daltonganj: Palamu police have launched a community outreach initiative, ‘Aap Ki Police, Aap Ke Dwar’, aimed at supporting survivors of domestic violence and ensuring that disputes resolved through police intervention do not recur.Palamu SP Kapil Chaudhary said, “The initiative seeks to maintain regular contact with families that have previously reported domestic violence. It is a sincere initiative to ensure there is no reversal of situations where police intervention helped restore peace in households,” he said.Under the programme, senior police officers from police subdivisions and police stations will visit families where women or elderly members were earlier victims of domestic violence. During these visits, officers will interact with vulnerable family members and assess their well-being.The initiative was rolled out on Oct 14 after nearly two months of groundwork, during which separate registers for complaints related to domestic violence against women and elderly persons were prepared at police stations across the district.Police officials said domestic violence remains a major concern in Palamu, with such complaints forming a significant share of cases reported at police stations. In several instances, domestic disputes have escalated into serious crimes, including murder and suicide. The first round of visits began in Chhatarpur subdivision, where police shortlisted 38 cases reported over the past two months. SDPO Prashant Kumar said, “Officers interacted with affected families to determine whether problems persisted after earlier police intervention. Families were largely found living peacefully.”
