Times News NetworkKanpur: A pack of stray dogs killed 40 sheep belonging to livestock rearer Pintu in Bela Basti under the Bela police station area in Auraiya district, triggering anger among local residents and prompting the administration to begin the process of securing financial compensation for the affected family.The attack took place late on Tuesday night when the dogs attacked sheep kept in an enclosure. Of around 82 sheep, 40 died and some others were injured. The incident caused financial loss to the livestock rearer, leaving his family in difficulty. The villagers expressed concern about the safety of their livestock.Victim Pintu alias Shravan Kumar, son of Ganga Ram and a resident of Bela Basti, said he had a total of 82 sheep, and had kept them safely inside the enclosure as usual. He said loud noises and sounds of a stampede were heard late at night, and when he reached the spot with family members, he saw a pack of stray dogs had already attacked the sheep. Several sheep were found dead, while some were seriously injured. The dogs were chased away, but losses had already occurred.Bela police were informed immediately. A police team reached the spot, inspected the scene, gathered details, and questioned villagers and the affected livestock rearer.Station House Officer Lalitesh Tripathi said that the police team had reached the spoton receiving information. The matter is being investigated, and necessary action will be taken on the basis of the inquiry.Lekhpal Rohit Yadav from the revenue department said that a report of the incident is being prepared. As per rules, the report will be sent to senior officials so that the process of assistance and compensation from the govt can be completed and financial relief can be provided to the affected livestock rearer.The residents demanded that the administration remove stray dogs from the area immediately.
