Wardha: Heavy rain in Ashti taluka of Wardha district disrupted normal life, with floodwaters from the Bakli River affecting several villages. Floodwaters entered a local school and public library in Narsingpur village, significantly damaging a large number of books.In Hinganghat tehsil, incessant rain since Thursday morning caused the Yashoda River to overflow, bringing traffic on the Allipur -Alamdoh road to a halt. Floodwater reached the bridge leading to Alamdoh village, temporarily disrupting connectivity with Allipur.With the water current increasing, the administration has appealed to residents living along the river to remain alert and avoid unnecessary movement in flood-affected areas.As per Alamdoh residents, the river was not desilted for many years. They said that even moderate rain causes the river to overflow, disrupting normal life in the area. Villagers demanded that the administration immediately undertake desilting of the river and implement a permanent solution to prevent floods.Meanwhile, livestock owners in Ashti taluka suffered losses after eight goats were swept away in the floodwaters. Carcasses of four goats have been recovered, while a search is underway for the remaining animals.Belora village was cut off from the rest of Ashti taluka as floodwaters from the Bakli River surrounded it from all sides. Traffic was suspended as water continued to flow over the road.The administration is closely monitoring the situation, and emergency response teams have been placed on alert.
