Bengaluru: Over 8.6 lakh students will appear for SSLC exams starting Wednesday. Students will write first language test — Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, English and Sanskrit — on the first day in 2,871 exam centres across the state.Urging students to appear for examinations without fear, chief minister Siddaramaiah said: “On behalf of the govt and personally, I wish 8,65,988 students all the best. They have been given the opportunity to write three exams (SSLC-1, 2, 3). In case of low marks or failure, there is an opportunity to appear again, so no one should be discouraged and there is no need to worry.” School education and literacy minister Madhu Bangarappa said, “To avoid burdening poor students, we have abolished re-examination fee for those who fail. Also, on the model of private schools, parent-teacher meetings (PTMs) have been successfully held in govt schools as well.”The results are expected to be announced on April 24, but there is no confirmation as yet.
