Bengaluru: In a swift and daring act of theft, an unidentified man posed as a prospective customer and decamped with four gold rings worth around Rs 2.9 lakh from a jewellery shop on Begur Main Road Sunday, leaving the shop owner stunned.Maruthi Jewellers owner Mangilal, in his complaint with Bommanahalli police stated around 2.15pm, a man posing as customer entered the shop and asked to show him gold rings. Mangilal showed him several designs, which the man carefully examined by wearing them on his fingers.In a matter of moments, the accused created a distraction by asking to see more designs. As Mangilal turned around to take out additional rings, the man allegedly seized the opportunity and fled the spot.The miscreant was inside the shop for barely five minutes before executing the theft. Stolen rings include three white stone gold rings, a green stone ring, all together weighing over 21 grams.A case has been registered under BNS Section 305 (theft in a dwelling house, or means of transportation or place of worship, etc). Efforts are on to nab the accused.
