Shimla: More than 200 roads remained blocked across Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday, even as flash floods in Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti damaged agricultural fields and disrupted connectivity.On Tuesday, a flash flood in the Munshi Nallah and Chapaur Nallah near Tinno village in Kolang area of Lahaul-Spiti caused extensive damage, washing away the bridge over Munshi Nallah and cutting off connectivity to villages on the other side.The powerful flow also damaged an irrigation channel, water pipeline, drinking water tank and a stretch of a link road. As floodwaters diverted towards agricultural fields, large areas of farmland and standing crops were destroyed, villagers said.With the bridge and access route washed away, cows and other livestock remain stranded across the nallah.The affected villagers have sought an immediate assessment of the damage in the Munshi and Chapaur nallah areas and urged the administration to prioritise restoration of the bridge, road, irrigation and drinking water infrastructure. They have also sought relief and compensation for affected farmers and livestock owners.A flash flood also struck Jahlma rivulet on Tuesday, causing damage to nearby farmlands.In a social media post, Lahaul-Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana said that following the flood incidents in Tinno village and Jahlma, the concerned departments have been directed to visit the affected areas, assess the damage and take necessary steps for relief.In Chamba’s Churah sub-division, the water level of the Satrundi rivulet suddenly rose following heavy rain on Wednesday morning, bringing traffic to a standstill on the Bairagarh–Sach Pass–Killar road.An official said that a public works department team was rushed to the spot and efforts were underway to clear debris from the nallah and restore traffic.In Pangi, a flash flood damaged connectivity to Shoon panchayat after a bridge over Hillu rivulet was damaged on Tuesday.Meanwhile, a total of 209 roads were blocked across the state on Wednesday. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Mandi accounted for the highest number of closures at 94, followed by Kullu (60), Shimla (21), Chamba (10), Sirmaur (11), Kangra (5), Una (4), Kinnaur (2) and Lahaul-Spiti (2).The stretch between Kullu and Manali and Manri-Pathankot highway was reopened on Wednesday.Power and water supply were also hit as 19 distribution transformer regions (DTR) were non-functional across the state and 70 water supply schemes remained disrupted.
