Ballari: SP Suman DP said that police have registered more than 127 cases in the district over the past month by conducting a series of raids to curb illegal activities. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, SP Suman said that 47 matka cases and 24 gambling cases have been registered during the period. She added that police also booked 19 cases related to illegal sand transportation, 25 cases of illegal liquor sale and 13 cases of illegal transportation of ration rice. They seized 22 bullock carts and 25 cars involved in illegal activities. She said raids were also conducted on residences of kingpins involved in these activities, and continuous follow-up action is being taken. Referring to the illegal import of ore from NMDC, SP Suman said that based on information provided by truck driver Thippeswamy, police seized 1,050 tonnes of material from Sai Balaji company and 1,000 tonnes from Nobel Ispat company. She said that the police are investigating who is behind the illegal activity. The SP also said that there is information regarding the involvement of dealers in the urea scam. She added that the matter is under investigation.
