Dumka: A routine morning walk turned fatal for 55-year-old Gaur Chandra Bagti, who was found murdered near Mohanpur Chowk in Sahibganj district early Sunday, police said.Bagti’s blood-soaked body was discovered lying on the Udhwa-Barharwa main road, triggering panic in the area. Villagers alerted his family and informed police after spotting the body.According to his family, Bagti had left home for his morning walk when unidentified attackers intercepted him near the chowk. The assailants allegedly slit his throat with a sharp-edged weapon before fleeing the scene.A police team led by Rajmahal SDPO Vimlesh Tripathi, inspector Rajiv Ranjan and Radhanagar police station SI Ganga Prasad Yadav reached the spot shortly after receiving information. After completing the necessary formalities, police sent the body to Rajmahal subdivisional hospital for post-mortem examination.Bagti ran a grocery shop and also worked as a land surveyor to support his family.“The matter is being thoroughly investigated. We are looking into different aspects of the incident to ascertain the motive behind the murder and identify those involved,” SDPO Tripathi said.The motive behind the killing was not immediately known. Investigators are examining movements in the area and questioning locals for clues. The probe is being conducted under the supervision of the SDPO.
