Hazaribag: One Lakhan Yadav, who was bitten by a common krait snake in his sleep at Bada Daharbhanga village in Tatijharia block of Hazaribag district on Monday night, died at the Sadar Hospital. Lakhan (47) had returned home with his uncle, Rameshwar Yadav, a resident of Mangarpatta, after performing the last rites of his cousin, Loknath Gope, on Monday evening. His uncle was sleeping on the bed in the room while he slept on the floor. The ‘silent killer’ common krait snake bit him near the neck. He woke up and told his family when he felt uneasy. His family members spotted the common krait in the room. He was taken to the Sadar hospital, where he was administered anti-venom but his condition deteoriated leading to his death. Lakhan was a taxi driver in Mumbai. He had returned home on June 17 for paddy cultivation, said police.
