Jamshedpur: Deputy commissioner Karn Satyarthi has asked the district entrepreneur coordination cell (DECC) and district programme manager (DPM) Jharkhand State livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) to work out the modalities to run bamboo cluster in Baharagora in a cooperative model.With 70 trained artisans working at the bamboo cluster in Jugisol, Baharagora, the DC has asked the officials to expand the ambit and provide skill training to a greater number of artisans. The DC said cooperative model ensures collective effort, collective ownership and collective decision-making.The cluster which is being run as part of the micro small and medium enterprises project has a wide scope to provide a decent livelihood to the local artisans, he said.He has asked the concerned officials to ensure that the cluster is expanded and the local village women are engaged after proper skill training. “The purpose behind this model is to increase the scope of self-employment and enhance the earning capacity of villagers, particularly women,” Satyarthi said.Further, the DC said that there is a need to work on tapping the market for bamboo products produced in the district and promote cing market friendly modern day crafts and decorative items.
