Srinagar, July 26: A tragic road accident on Chanapora Bridge in Srinagar on Sunday left one person dead and an 18-year-old woman injured after two motorcycles were involved in a collision.
Officials identified the deceased as Imad Aijaz, son of Aijaz Ahmad Mughal, a native of Karnah currently residing at Sebdan, Budgam.
He sustained critical injuries in the crash and was declared dead at the scene.
The injured pillion rider, Muskan, daughter of Danish Hussain Shah, originally from Tangdhar and presently living in Bemina, was rushed to Government Hospital Barzulla for medical treatment. Her condition is being monitored.
Police said the accident involved motorcycle registration JK04-4193 and another motorcycle whose rider fled the scene immediately after the collision, taking the vehicle along.
A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to trace the unidentified rider.
Investigations into the circumstances leading to the accident are in progress.
