Man stabbed, bludgeoned to death in Nalasopara (Representative image)

VASAI: A 31-year-old man was brutally murdered late on Friday night in Nalasopara West. The Nalasopara cops have registered a case of murder and have named 5 in the FIR along with 4 to 5 unknown people. Sources have confirmed that the cops have arrested 1 while teams have been formed to trace the remaining. The victim has been identified as Shubham Mishra and is said to be known to the accused. The killing, allegedly stemming from an old rivalry, was carried out in a brazen manner on a public road, triggering panic in the area.According to police, the chain of events began around 9:30 pm at a bar in the Gala Nagar area of Nalasopara East, where Mishra was with Roshan Singh and other two. This is when an argument reportedly broke out between Mishra and Roshan Singh over a previous dispute. This is where Roshan threatened Mishra and also mentioned that he (Mishra) had filed a case against him (Roshan). After this, they made plans to go to meet an acquaintance in Nalasopara west. The accused stopped the auto under some pretext once they reached a junction and attacked Mishra when he also stepped out. Sources have also confirmed that Roshan had also called in for more people at that spot to attack Mishra, making this a premeditated attack. At around 11:30 pm, when the streets had grown relatively deserted, Jagan Mehndi, Sunil Malusare and Suraj Singh and four to five associates reportedly arrived on motorcycles. Here, they stabbed and murdered Mishra by bludgeoning him with a stone. He sustained severe injuries and heavy bleeding, and was died on the spot.Mishra was first stabbed in the thigh and hip and was smashed by stone once he fell down. Officers from the Nalasopara Police Station rushed to the spot upon receiving information about the incident and sent the body for post-mortem examination.The cops have registered an FIR against Roshan Singh, Jagan Mehndi, Sunil Malusare, Suraj Singh, Tinkle Mishra and four to five others under relevant sections of Murder, the Maharashtra Police Act and the Arms Act.As of the time of reporting, one accused has been arrested, while others remain absconding. Police teams have been formed to trace and apprehend the remaining suspects. Additional police personnel have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order, and further investigation is underway.
