Mandya: Melukote MLA Darshan Puttannaiah has directed officials to ensure comprehensive arrangements for smooth conduct of the historic Vairamudi Brahmotsava, anticipating the participation of lakhs of devotees.Chairing a preliminary meeting at Melukote on Wednesday, he stressed the need for immediate and coordinated action to provide essential infrastructure and public amenities. The MLA emphasised uninterrupted drinking water supply, strong security measures, and effective crowd management systems to avoid inconvenience. He instructed authorities to install proper barricading along procession routes to regulate the large gatherings and ensure seamless ceremonial flow. Various departments were also asked to provide adequate sanitation facilities, medical services, and well-organised transport arrangements through KSRTC, the state transport service. The festival will start on March 23 and end on April 4.Deputy commissioner Kumara highlighted the global significance of the festival, particularly the ceremonial adornment of Lord Cheluvanarayanaswamy with the sacred diamond-studded crown. He called for meticulous planning, including a dedicated media gallery within the temple premises and strict maintenance of cleanliness.Special focus was placed on the Teppotsava at Pancha Kalyani on April 1. Officials were instructed to ensure safety through proper lighting, temporary sanitation facilities, and designated parking zones with clear signage. Medical units will also be deployed at key locations to handle emergencies. Senior officials, including superintendent of police VJ Shobharani, attended the meeting.
