Bicholim: The North Goa collector Ankit Yadav on Friday formed a joint task force to regulate public places, enforce safety norms and remove unauthorised structures in Shirgao for the Shree Lairai Devi jatra scheduled to be held on April 21.The district administration has been taking layered measures in view of last year’s stampede that killed six devotees. At a meeting held last month, the collector discussed a coordinated strategy for crowd management, removal of unauthorised structures, haphazard parking and compliance with safety norms.Yadav stated that no stalls, sheds or temporary structures will be allowed to be set up at the jatra venue without the permission of the competent authority.The authorities removed illegal structures along the main road in the village. Deputy collector of Bicholim Shubham Naik, Mamlatdar Shailendra Desai, deputy superintendent of police B V Shridevi and other officials supervised the demolition.
