Bhubaneswar: CM Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday slammed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and former MP Sandeep Dikshit for their remarks targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni, calling the comments irresponsible and unbecoming of national leaders. In a social media post, Majhi alleged that the remarks reflected the Congress party’s “intellectual bankruptcy” and political desperation.“The mask is completely off. Rahul Gandhi and Sandeep Dikshit are once again proving how intellectually bankrupt and politically desperate Congress has become,” the CM wrote.Referring to comments made at the Rachnatmak Congress national convention on Thursday, Majhi said dragging the PM of a friendly nation into a political joke was “not wit but a disgraceful display of poor judgement, political arrogance and utter disregard for diplomatic dignity”.The CM said the laughter that followed the remarks made the episode even more shameful. “Congress has broken its own record of stooping low. When there is no vision, they resort to ridicule. When there is no substance, they resort to spectacle. When there is no dignity, they make humiliation their politics,” Majhi said. The CM further said India’s foreign relations and the dignity of women were too important to be reduced to “political theatrics”. “This is not the politics of a responsible Opposition. This is Congress at its intellectually bankrupt worst,” he added. At the convention, Rahul took a swipe at PM Modi’s foreign policy before giving Dikshit a hug, prompting a quip from the latter linking the gesture to Italian PM Meloni.
