Nagpur: In its bid to reform the existing examination system, Nagpur University has resolved to conduct all its exams using its own software from summer 2027. The much-needed reform was one of the top priorities of vice-chancellor Manali Kshirsagar after she assumed office in December last year.Making the announcement about the examination reforms at a news conference recently, Kshirsagar said, “Winter exams will commence from Oct 3 as per academic calendar and NU will hold all exams from Summer 2027 using its own software.” The development comes ahead of the historic university’s 103rd foundation day to be celebrated on Tuesday at Guru Nanak Bhavan.Earlier, the VC had said that the university’s IT cell has been entrusted with the task of developing in-house software to reduce dependence on third-party agencies for exam work.While NU’s experience with third-party exam agencies has been poor, things went from bad to worse after a delayed appointment of Hyderabad-based private operator COEMPT Eduteck and questions were raised over its ability to get on the job instantly during winter 2025 examinations. The agency was also embroiled in a nationwide CBSE on-screen marking controversy.Following blunders in results of winter 2025 exams, NU held back all bills of COEMPT. It set up an inquiry led by senate member Manmohan Bajpai regarding award of 3-year contract and to cross-check its past records at educational institutions in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Allegations of the company being blacklisted in its earlier avatar as Globarena Technologies by other universities are also being verified.
