Vadodara: City-based Navrachana University (NU) will launch its Centre for Public Health on Saturday, with a focus on promoting interdisciplinary research, innovation and community engagement to address emerging public health challenges.Established under the university’s School of Science, the centre will undertake evidence-based research, professional training and policy support, while fostering collaborations with govt agencies, academic institutions, healthcare organisations, industry and civil society. Its initiatives will be aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.Dr Meenesh Shah, chairman of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), will attend the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest, while Dr Bhavesh Modi, director and scientist at the National Institute of Occupational Health, Ahmedabad, will be the guest of honour.The launch event will also feature a panel discussion on ‘Public Health in the 21st Century through the One Health Approach‘. The discussion will bring together experts from healthcare, governance, agriculture and industry, including former Union health secretary Dr Amarjit Singh, UNICEF Gujarat consultant Dr Dhananjay Bhatt, GMERS Vadodara faculty members Dr Sandeep Shah and Dr Sunil Nayak, IFFCO’s Pradeep Yadav and Fermenta Biotech managing director Prashant Nagre.According to the university, the centre will also serve as a learning platform for students, providing them with opportunities to work on real-world health challenges. It will aim to strengthen preventive healthcare research and develop community-focused solutions to emerging public health needs.
